Physics and Astronomy Combined Major: Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc)

Admission Requirements: Physics and Astronomy (combined major) carries no admission requirements of its own: UVic's program page states applicants apply to and are admitted through the single-subject Physics program, then may declare this combined degree as their major after one year of full-time study. For British Columbia and Yukon applicants the Faculty of Science requires, at Grade 11, approved English 11, Pre-calculus 11, Chemistry 11 and Physics 11, and at Grade 12, English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at a minimum of 73% plus Pre-calculus 12 at a minimum of 77% and two further approved Grade 12 science courses; other provinces and international curricula have their own equivalent lists on the program page. UVic estimates a recommended admission average of at least 85% on the required Grade 12 courses, though meeting the minimum never guarantees an offer given competition for places. Applicants whose primary language of instruction was not English must meet UVic's undergraduate English-language-proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no component below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 20), PTE Academic 65 (no skill below 60), Duolingo 120 (no subscore below 110) or CAEL 70 (no section below 60).
