Software Engineering: Bachelor's Degree (BSEng)

Admission Requirements: Domestic applicants on the BC/Yukon curriculum need approved English 11, Pre-calculus 11, Chemistry 11, Physics 11 and an approved social studies 11/12, then English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at 73% or higher, Pre-calculus 12 at 77% or higher, an approved science 12 or Calculus 12, and one further approved academic 12; other provinces have equivalent lists on the program page. UVic estimates the entry average at 85% on the required grade-12 courses, and says meeting the minimum does not guarantee a place. International applicants: the IB route needs the full diploma with three or more Higher Level subjects, English HL or SL at 3 or better and Math, Chemistry and Physics (HL or SL) at 4 or better (Math Studies and Math Applications and Interpretations SL are not accepted), at an estimated 30 points; the US route needs 14 or more college-preparatory courses including four English (C+ or better in senior English), four maths through pre-calculus at B- or better and three sciences with at least one lab covering chemistry and physics, at an estimated 3.40 unweighted GPA, and SAT 1250 or ACT 26 are optional (UVic codes 0989 and 5327). Other international curricula require twelve years of schooling with grade-11 Physics and Chemistry and a senior maths course plus a senior science or second senior maths course. Transfer applicants need "C+" (3.00 on UVic's 9-point scale) across their most recent 12 UVic units/24 credits, "A-" (7.00) after one year of a diploma or "B" (5.00) on a completed diploma from a BC college, or "B" (5.00) over the most recent 12 units after a full year of a bachelor's degree from abroad, and must have completed CHEM 101 or 150, MATH 100 or 109, MATH 101, MATH 110 or 211, CSC 110 or 111, ATWP 135 or ENGL 135, and PHYS 110 and 111, or equivalents. All applicants must satisfy UVic's English language requirement: transcripts alone suffice after four years of full-time English-medium study in Canada, otherwise a test is needed (IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band under 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no section under 20, CAEL 70, Duolingo 120, PTE Academic 65, Cambridge C1/C2 180 or four-skill MET 64).
