Overview
To earn a Visual Arts and Computer Science Degree, you have the option of obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree or a Bachelor of Science Degree. In this program, you will apply the skills used in visuals arts to computer science. Learn how you can combine drawing, painting, sculpture and photography with technology. Study extended media and video art. This unique degree will give you skills that you can apply far beyond the artistic community.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Visual Arts and Computer Science (combined major) is delivered jointly by the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Department of Computer Science; the program page states the BFA and BSc variants share identical admission requirements. For British Columbia and Yukon applicants the program requires at Grade 11 approved English 11, Pre-calculus 11, approved social studies 11/12 and two further courses from approved science 11, approved language 11 or approved fine arts 11, then at Grade 12 English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at a minimum of 73%, Pre-calculus 12 at a minimum of 77%, one further approved academic Grade 12 course and one additional approved academic or fine arts Grade 12 course; other provinces and curricula publish their own equivalent lists on the program page. UVic estimates a recommended admission average of at least 80% on the required Grade 12 courses. All applicants must submit a digital portfolio by January 31; meeting the minimum requirements never guarantees admission given competition for places. Applicants whose primary language of instruction was not English must meet UVic's undergraduate English-language-proficiency requirement: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no component below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 20), PTE Academic 65 (no skill below 60), Duolingo 120 (no subscore below 110) or CAEL 70 (no section below 60).

Application Deadline:31 January for September entry — UVic's institution-wide deadline for most degree programs, applied equally to Canadian and international applicants (no separate international date is published). High-school applicants who submit grades by early December can be considered for early admission. UVic states these are annual fixed dates and warns that a program can stop accepting applications at any time without notice, while some programs keep accepting them past the published date.
