Overview
Psychology at the University of Waterloo leads to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Experimental Psychology, a doctoral-level research degree in the Department of Psychology. Students choose one of six research fields: Clinical, Cognitive, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental, Industrial-Organizational, or Social Psychology, and complete original research alongside faculty together with graduate coursework; an Applied Data Science specialization is also available. Admission normally requires a minimum overall standing of 80%, or its equivalent, in the last two years of study; a master's degree is generally required only for the Clinical and Social Psychology fields. The program is delivered on campus and runs full-time over 48 months, with admission available for the Fall term. Graduates are prepared for research and teaching careers in academia, as well as applied roles in industry, government, and health settings, drawing on advanced training in experimental and applied psychological methods.
