This research-based Master of Arts program in Anthropology (Public Issues) trains students to apply anthropological theories and findings to public discourse and policy questions. Students may pursue focused research within a sub-discipline of anthropology or take an interdisciplinary approach that draws on multiple fields. The program is full-time, delivered on-campus, with a nominal length of 16 months. Admission requires an honours bachelor's degree with at least a 75% overall standing and 78% in the major, preferably in anthropology, or with at least five anthropology courses completed within a social science or humanities program, or a natural sciences background with relevant ethnography and theory content. Graduates are prepared for careers in academia, archaeology, advocacy, communications, government, marketing, or research. Students are admitted in the Fall term, with an application deadline of February 1.
