Overview
The Master of Science (MSc) in Earth Sciences is a research-based graduate program offered by the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences in the Faculty of Science. Students choose between a thesis or research paper option and pursue quantitative, scientifically rigorous training in areas such as water sciences, sustainable mining, earth processes, and geohazards. Many students join active groundwater hydrology and other research groups led by faculty recognized for their work in the field. The program is delivered on campus and completed full-time over 24 months, with admission offered in the fall, winter, and spring terms. Graduates apply their research training to careers in environmental consulting, government, mining, and academia, or continue on to doctoral study. The department's research strengths span groundwater hydrology, geochemistry, and geophysics, giving students a range of specialization options within the broader earth sciences discipline.
