Overview
International Relations and Development Studies is a four-year Honours Bachelor of Arts programme covering diplomatic relations, human rights, international justice, global governance and conflict resolution. Students select one minor from 17 options, including Arabic Studies, Economics, French Studies, History, Indigenous Studies, Philosophy and Women's and Gender Studies, and the department offers a thesis option for students who want to complete an independent research project in their final year. Study-abroad opportunities include a course examining the European Union that involves travel to NATO headquarters in Brussels, developing students' analytical skills for careers addressing international and global issues such as foreign affairs and diplomatic relations. The programme is offered by the Department of Political Science within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and prepares graduates for roles in government, international organizations and non-governmental agencies.

Admission Requirements: Canadian high school applicants need English (ENG4U) with a minimum 70% grade in that course, and a minimum 70% overall average. International applicants need the equivalent of Grade 12 English and the same minimum 70% overall average. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's English proficiency requirement, for example a minimum IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 83.
