The Master of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Windsor focuses on social and political critique, broadly construed, alongside reasoning and argumentation. The department is internationally recognised as a centre for research in informal logic and argumentation, and the programme draws on that strength in its coursework and supervision. Students can complete the degree through a coursework stream or a major-paper stream, the latter combining seminar courses with a substantial research paper under faculty supervision. The MA prepares graduates for further scholarly study, including doctoral programmes in philosophy or entry to law school, as well as careers in public service, public relations, policy analysis, education and research. Applicants apply for Fall or Winter entry and submit a statement of research interest or study plan, a sample of philosophical writing, and two letters of reference alongside their academic transcripts.
