Overview

The diploma teaches students to operate, diagnose and service current computers, televisions and mobile devices, preparing them for technician roles within the consumer electronics repair industry. Extensive workshop time reinforces theoretical concepts, builds hands-on skills and develops familiarity with a range of electronic equipment and apparatus.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Electronics Repair Technology Diploma requires English 11 with a minimum 'C-' grade or equivalent, or English Language Proficiency at the Grade 11 level; applicants may instead meet the requirement with an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 with no band below 5.5, or a TOEFL score of 70. Mathematics is met by Apprentice and Workplace Math 10 with a minimum 'C-' grade or equivalent, or departmental approval based on relevant work experience. The page states no minimum grade point average. The programme is restricted to Canadian citizens and permanent residents; applicants must be 16 or older or a secondary-school graduate, and must submit official transcripts and other required documents. VCC notes, without requiring, that candidates should show effective English communication, manual dexterity, logical problem-solving ability, and good personal organisation and punctuality.

Start Date: September intake only. VCC's academic year runs in three terms: Winter (January to April), Spring/Summer (May to August) and Fall (September to December).
