BA/BS in Applied Health Sciences (BASc)

Applied Health Sciences is a four-year Bachelor of Arts and Science at Wilfrid Laurier University that explores health from both a scientific and human perspective, examining the connections between biological sciences, social factors and healthcare. Students learn to identify and promote strategies that prevent disease, improve quality of life and support healthier populations, beginning with first-year core courses in biology, chemistry and health studies and progressing to upper-year options such as Epidemiology and Public Health, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Forensic Laboratory Methods. Extensive lab time in state-of-the-art facilities is built into the curriculum, and students choose either a research-intensive course for those interested in graduate studies or a practicum course for real-world experience. A Physical Forensics specialization and a Teaching minor are available, and Laurier students gain preferential status with an internationally accredited medical school. Graduates pursue roles such as physician, epidemiologist, nurse practitioner, physiotherapist, public health program manager and biostatistician, some of which require additional training. The programme combines in-person and online instruction, with September, January and May intakes.
