The Bachelor of Music Therapy at Wilfrid Laurier University prepares students to use music to support health, well-being and quality of life for individuals and communities. Students complete two years in the Bachelor of Music program before applying for admission into the BMT stream for the final two years. The BMT curriculum builds the musical, clinical and interpersonal skills needed for a career in music therapy, combining coursework with supervised group and individual music therapy placements that give students hands-on clinical experience under faculty and clinical supervision. Students also complete foundational coursework in psychology relevant to therapeutic practice. The program is delivered on campus at Laurier's Waterloo campus, with entry into the BMT stream each September following completion of the prerequisite BMus years. Graduates are prepared to pursue accreditation and licensure as music therapists and to work in healthcare, education, rehabilitation and community settings where music therapy is practised.

Admission Requirements: Entry into the BMT stream requires a minimum Music GPA of 7.0, a minimum overall GPA of 6.0 and a minimum Psychology GPA of 5.0, along with completion of prerequisite courses MU158, PS101/PS102, PS275, and PS276 or PS377.
