The Meteorology Certificate provides specialist education in atmospheric phenomena, building on a background in mathematics, physics, and chemistry to study the complex and varied processes that occur in the Earth's atmosphere. It prepares students for careers in atmospheric science across government, environmental consulting, and industry sectors. Applicants must have completed the certificate's prerequisite courses, or may be required to complete qualifying courses before being admitted. The certificate is offered by the Faculty of Science and admits students in the Fall term. On completion it is recorded on the transcript, either alongside a student's existing York degree or as a stand-alone credential for applicants who already hold a university degree, documenting focused study of atmospheric processes and meteorological methods built on a foundation of mathematics, physics, and chemistry coursework.
