Indigenous Studies at York University is offered as a Bachelor of Arts or Certificate through the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. The programme explores solutions to contemporary issues faced by diverse Indigenous peoples, Canadians and other peoples around the world, drawing on Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, languages, cultures and economies while examining treaties, settler-colonialism, decolonization and reconciliation. Courses cover Indigenous ecological knowledge, languages, literatures, film, music, politics, education and contemporary issues. The programme is offered full-time or part-time at the Keele campus, with entry available in the fall term only for both first-year and upper-year students. Ontario applicants need an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with ENG4U and five additional 4U or M courses; college and university transfer applicants need at least one year of full-time study with a minimum 3.0 average on a 4-point scale.
