Offered by University of Victoria in Victoria, Canada, Transformative Climate Action Certificate is a certificate in Climate Studies & Meteorology programme. The programme is delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 4,680 per total for local students.
The Transformative Climate Action Certificate approaches climate change as a problem that is at once scientific, technical, legal, economic, cultural and political, and prepares students to lead climate work across sectors. Teaching is organized around four drivers the program identifies as transformative, collaborative, multi-dimensional and future-focused, with emphasis on strategic climate action planning, cross-sector collaboration and partnership with Indigenous communities. Students complete three required courses covering the human dimensions of climate change, transformative change, and the politics, policies and planning of climate action, plus four electives from options including Indigenous-led climate action, water futures, adaptation planning and the built environment, organizing for transformative change, and future ecosystems and communities. Delivery is blended and online, taken part-time or full-time over one to two years.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Transformative Climate Action Certificate states only that applicants must be admissible to the University of Victoria, without publishing a program-specific academic threshold, language-proficiency score or prior-credential requirement of its own. Admissibility to UVic for domestic secondary-school applicants generally rests on the province-specific senior courses UVic requires for undergraduate entry — for example British Columbia and Yukon applicants need English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at 73% or higher plus approved grade-12 academic courses, while Ontario applicants need English 4U at 73% or higher plus five further 4U/4M courses — and other provinces follow their own equivalent lists. International applicants are assessed on twelve years of schooling and graduation from a recognised senior secondary school, evaluated by curriculum, together with UVic's standard English-language-proficiency requirement. The certificate page does not add any further prerequisite, portfolio, interview or work-experience condition beyond this general admissibility standard.
