Overview
The Graduate Diploma in Refugee & Migration Studies is coordinated by the Centre for Refugee Studies (CRS) at York University and lets a student already enrolled in a York graduate program formally specialize in refugee and forced migration studies. It is awarded concurrently with the student's Master's or PhD degree rather than as a stand-alone credential. Diploma candidates complete six credits from one or two approved refugee and forced migration studies courses, drawn from CRS-affiliated course lists, complete 30 hours of volunteer work, attend at least eight CRS seminar presentations over the course of their degree, remain active members of the CRS Student Caucus, and produce a major research paper, thesis or dissertation supervised by an approved faculty member on an approved refugee or migration topic. The diploma gives formal recognition to a concentrated research and study focus in this field.
