Overview
A 12-month online transdisciplinary diploma for people who want to fold climate action into their current work or move into a new climate profession. It examines the social, political, cultural and economic responses that point toward a low-carbon, socially just and climate-resilient future, and asks students to envision, design and mobilize solutions to emerging climate challenges. The open-learning curriculum pushes work outside the classroom: students tackle real-world problems and share their learning through blogs and other open resources, building a public profile in the field before they graduate. Graduates leave with skills in climate communication, climate risk management, building the business case for climate action, design thinking and change management. The diploma covers the same foundational material as the MA in Climate Action Leadership, and credits can transfer if a student is later admitted to that degree.

Minimum GPA:3.00 / 4.33
Admission Requirements: Standard admission requires a four-year (or comparable) undergraduate degree with a minimum 'B' (3.00/4.33) GPA from a recognized post-secondary institution, plus at least two years of relevant leadership or management experience; applicants away from academic writing for more than ten years normally take Royal Roads' Academic Writing and Critical Thinking course before starting. Flexible admission instead requires normally five years of work experience including two years of relevant leadership or management experience, with the same writing course normally required. English-language proficiency defers to Royal Roads' general requirement for third-year entry and graduate programs: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (minimum 6.5 in writing and speaking, 6.0 in listening and reading) or TOEFL iBT 88 overall (minimum 24 writing, 20 in listening, reading and speaking).

Application Deadline:Royal Roads University sets no single university-wide deadline: domestic and international applicants apply directly to the university through the same process, and every programme page checked shows one identical deadline for both. RRU consistently closes a programme's application exactly three calendar months before that programme's own intake start date — a September 2027 intake typically closes 7 June 2027 — though a few programmes (the Master of Global Management, for example) use a six-month lead instead. Each programme lists its own upcoming intakes, running from 2026 into 2028 depending on the programme, and RRU says it may still accept a late application if space and processing time remain, but it publishes no separate international deadline and no institution-wide equal-consideration or rolling policy. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
