MA/MS in Community Development and Social Well-being

Community Development and Social Well-being is a two-year master's programme taught in Estonian as session-based study in Tartu. It carries 120 ECTS credits, admits 20 students and is free of tuition charges. The curriculum was designed with adult learners in mind. Students acquire broad social-science knowledge of contemporary approaches to understanding communities, together with practical skills for putting them to use. After graduating, they are equipped to lead initiatives that support social well-being and reduce inequality among people in Estonia. The programme sets this in the context of declining democracy and an excess of technology, which makes it especially important to encourage people to meet, build relationships and act together in meaningful ways. Applications are submitted through SAIS between 1 February and 30 June, the first admission decisions come in mid-July and the academic year begins on 31 August. Admission conditions for the 2027 intake are due to be published by the end of December.
