Fiji National University's Certificate in Plant Maintenance Engineering (Level 4) builds on trade fundamentals for students pursuing a career in plant maintenance engineering and related service industries. The two-year, 120-credit programme at the Samabula campus responds to Fiji's shortage of skilled plant maintenance tradespeople and the growing need for workers able to operate increasingly complex plant technology, including advanced electronics and new building materials and techniques. Units include hydraulics and pneumatics, building on the practical and technical knowledge required to install, maintain and repair industrial plant and machinery to a higher standard than the Level 3 certificate. The qualification is designed to supply Fiji's manufacturing and service sectors with workers trained to keep pace with newer technologies replacing older systems. Entry requires completion of Fiji Year 12 with at least 40 percent in English, or 12 years of continuous education, or the Level 3 Certificate in the same trade; applicants aged 17 or above without the standard progression may be admitted based on maturity, work experience or prior learning.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: FY12 pass 40%+ English or 12yrs continuous education or Cert L3; mature 17+ entry via experience.
