The Master in Civil Engineering is a German-taught programme at Ruhr-Universität Bochum that builds on a Bachelor degree in civil engineering or a comparable subject. It links closely to other engineering disciplines as well as the natural and economic sciences.
Students choose a specialisation: structural design and construction, digital design and construction, geotechnics and tunnelling, water management and environmental engineering, or transport. Questions range from the design of bridges and buildings to flood protection, road maintenance and traffic noise.
Graduates work in construction firms, engineering offices, public authorities, utilities and research. The programme takes four semesters and can start in the winter or summer semester.
Further details on enrolment are available separately for German and international applicants, and the semester contribution is explained on a dedicated university page. Students can turn to the study advisory service of the department with questions about content and admission.
