The BA in Filmmaking is a three-year, 180 ECTS programme for people who have already completed upper-secondary school, show interest or ability in visual storytelling, and wish to work in film or go on to graduate study. Students learn the methods and language of cinema in order to tell the stories that matter to them.
The programme concentrates on the key positions in filmmaking while offering education in six areas: directing, screenwriting, production, cinematography, editing and sound. Students are trained mainly in fiction filmmaking, with some training in documentary work. Beyond providing the tools the craft requires, the department works to develop creative collaboration between these areas.
The degree is completed over six semesters across three years and leads to a BA. The department starts from the view that telling stories is a fundamental part of being human and that filmmaking is the main narrative medium of our time.
