Data science is a master's programme of 120 units in the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Iceland, with an emphasis on applied statistical methods.
The compulsory autumn courses are applied linear statistical models and artificial intelligence. In spring, students take statistical consulting, the lifecycle of artificial intelligence solutions, and applied data analysis. A final project on project management, writing and presentation is also listed.
Electives are numerous. They include R programming, time series analysis, clinical prediction models, the foundations of statistics and of probability theory, financial mathematics, applied Bayesian statistics, random effects models, stochastic processes, business intelligence, an introduction to deep neural networks, survival analysis, linear models with random effects, and a seminar in artificial intelligence. Some of these are not taught every term, so the available choices vary from one semester to the next.
