MA/MS in Tölfræði

The master's programme in statistics is a full-time course lasting two years, offered by the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Students complete a research project worth 60 units and take elective courses worth another 60 units. The aim is for students to acquire knowledge and understanding of a chosen area of specialisation and the skill to solve complex problems. The autumn term includes theoretical and applied linear statistical models, the foundations of statistics, Bayesian statistics in applied form, time series analysis and a course on project management, writing and presentation for the final project. Spring courses include statistical consulting, applied data analysis, linear models with random effects, stochastic processes and the foundations of probability theory, along with a dedicated course for the master's examination. The final project runs in both terms.
