MA/MS in Political Science

The MA in political science at the University of Iceland is a 120-unit programme offered as distance learning in the School of Social Sciences. It is an option for students who want to specialise in one of the main areas of political science that do not have their own dedicated study track. The aim is to train students to solve research problems with further study in mind, while also providing a sound basis for varied work in the labour market. The study is organised around the master's thesis, which is an independent research project carried out under the guidance of a supervising teacher. In the thesis, students tackle an academically demanding topic and apply theory in an original way. The study plan shows the thesis as a course taken regardless of study year or semester.
