Program details

Overview

This special purpose award runs in parallel with the Bachelor of Education programmes at Froebel, and students take it alongside their teacher training degree. It builds foundational knowledge in Catholic theology and develops the teaching methods needed to present the faith in primary classrooms. Material draws on early childhood thinkers, including Friedrich Froebel, whose work stresses play, hands-on activity and child-centred approaches. The four-year route is delivered in collaboration with Maynooth University's early childhood education department. Its purpose is to equip teachers to respond to the spiritual and religious needs of pupils, and it is delivered as an undergraduate-level, four-year option tied to primary teaching.
