Program details
Overview
UTech, Jamaica's Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science is a four-year, 126-credit undergraduate programme at the Papine Campus, built around practical, law-oriented scientific training that supports Jamaica's justice and public-safety priorities.
Students choose a specialisation in Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology, Forensic Biology, or Cyber Forensics, and complete a six-week, credit-bearing industry placement in year three with a partner such as a forensic-science institute, police agency or corporate cyber-security unit. Entry calls for five CSEC subjects at the General Proficiency standard (grade 3 or better), or the matching GCE O-level grades, in English Language and Mathematics, together with two further science subjects chosen from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Integrated Science or Information Technology — ideally one aligned with the student's chosen specialisation. Graduates move into roles such as forensic chemist, crime-scene investigator or digital-incident-response analyst.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Five CSEC General Proficiency passes (grades 1-3) or GCE O-level passes (A-C) including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least two science subjects from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Integrated Science or Information Technology, with one matching the chosen specialisation.
