This Level 4 diploma from CPCAB in therapeutic counselling is the final stage of becoming a qualified counsellor. Study is part time over two years, with 36 evenings and 12 Saturday workshops, for people who want to finish their counselling training and begin working in agency settings.
The course concentrates on two connected approaches, existential and humanistic practice. Learners combine theory, skills practice and personal development in a structured, supportive environment and explore how people develop, the therapeutic relationship and counselling theory. It also suits people in related helping professions who want greater depth.
Completing it equips learners to practise in counselling, or to progress to BACP-accredited courses or work in private practice where extra requirements are met. CPCAB counselling qualifications have Recognised Qualification Status from the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. Applicants need the Level 3 counselling studies certificate from CPCAB, or an equivalent.
