Program details

Overview

This two-year foundation degree looks at how people think and behave, together with why crime happens and what follows from it. Psychology is the main subject, with criminology as a supporting minor subject grounded in psychological ideas and evidence. Students examine how psychological ideas connect with offending, deviance and justice in wider society, and they build research skills through both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study prepares learners for professional practice or for later study towards an honours degree or a master's. The course is suited to analytical and curious people and can lead to careers such as police officer or probation officer, among other roles where psychological understanding helps. Year 2 includes a 10 day work placement. The course runs only if enough applications are received, and fees could change.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Either two A levels at grades 4/C or above, a BTEC Level 3 with a minimum of two Merits, 64+ UCAS points, or an equivalent vocational or technical qualification. Maths and English GCSEs at grades 4/C or above are also required.
