Aimed at social welfare professionals who already work in the field, this programme leads to a supervisor qualification in social work and charitable social work supervision, preparing graduates to organise and lead professional, quality supervision processes. Coursework covers different forms of supervision - individual, group, team and organisational - along with innovative approaches such as charitable supervision, and builds skills in applying interdisciplinary research methods to social work and related research.
Teaching is delivered by experienced local and international supervisors alongside academic staff, with practical supervision experience arranged through Latvian social services and additional courses in business management and organisation. Erasmus+ exchange offers further study or placement opportunities abroad. The curriculum follows competence standards set by the European Association of National Organisations for Supervision and is built around interdisciplinary research principles intended to deepen graduates' professional and conceptual grounding as supervisors.
