Police Work is a first-cycle professional higher education programme in the study field of internal security and civil protection, taught in Latvian in Rīga. It lasts two and a half years, carries 120 ECTS credits, and meets on Saturdays. The qualification awarded is senior officer of the State Police. The programme is accredited until 20 March 2031.
The programme was developed within the Internal Security Academy, an association built by several institutions: the Ministry of the Interior, the State Police College, Rīga Stradiņš University and the University of Latvia. The institutions pool resources to prepare highly qualified specialists for Latvian law enforcement bodies.
Its goal is to prepare a highly qualified specialist in security, crime prevention and police work, with knowledge, skills and competences matching level 6 of the Latvian qualifications framework and the occupational standard for the senior State Police officer, a level 6 professional qualification.
