This diploma trains social rehabilitators to support people affected by functional impairment, social exclusion or other social difficulties, working alongside social workers to draw up individual rehabilitation plans. Coursework builds the practical skills needed to help clients develop social abilities, sustain motivation for independent living, and take an active part in choosing and receiving the services set out in their rehabilitation plan.
Alongside applied methods, students are introduced to a scientific approach to problem-solving and basic research work, and study the structure of the social welfare system and the legislation shaping rehabilitation practice. The programme responds to regional priorities around reducing social exclusion and supporting vulnerable groups, including children in at-risk families. Graduates can specialise in rehabilitation services for a particular group, such as children, older people or people with disabilities, typically working in social welfare or healthcare institutions, dedicated service providers or private organisations.
