This short-cycle professional higher education programme prepares information technology specialists in two and a half years. The University of Latvia delivers it in Latvian as full-time, on-campus study in central Riga, over five semesters and 150 ECTS credits.
On completion, graduates receive a short-cycle professional education diploma and one of two qualifications: programmer, or computer systems and network administrator. The aim is to produce specialists who can adopt new technologies in a fast-changing environment and who can take part in developing applications and information systems, or in building computer networks and administering computer systems.
The curriculum includes a work placement at an IT organisation, such as an international company, a public body or a start-up. Places are available both as state-funded budget places and as fee-paying places.
