MA/MS in Vēsture un arheloģija

Vēsture un arheoloģija is an academic master's programme at the University of Latvia, taught in Latvian in the centre of Riga. Full-time study lasts four semesters and amounts to 120 ECTS credits. Graduates receive a Master of Humanities degree in history and archaeology. The page describes it as one of two programmes of its kind in Latvia, with long-standing traditions, since the study of history at the university began together with the founding of the university itself. On completion, students should be able to demonstrate and understand current scientific theories and findings, and to use research methodology and modern research methods in historical science and where it meets other disciplines. The studies are closely tied to practical research into current historical problems, drawing on published and unpublished sources and on recent literature. State-funded and fee-paying places are both offered for the 2026/2027 intake.
