The University of Macau's doctoral programme covering applied physics and materials engineering brings together physics and engineering disciplines. It centres on the basic science of materials and their uses, from nanomechanics and photonics to energy storage technologies and quantum information and computing.
The programme builds on the university's research in quantum computing, energy technology, applied physics and materials engineering. It is set in the Pearl River Delta, a major manufacturing region, where the programme aims to support research and the training of personnel for new technologies.
A study plan for intakes from 2021/2022 lists compulsory and elective courses, and the 2026/2027 course offering is published by semester. Theses are written in English. Applicants should hold a bachelor's or master's degree in physics, materials science, engineering or related fields, and those whose earlier degree was not taught in English must show English proficiency.
