Doctor of Science

The Doctor of Science is a research degree offered by the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph in Macao. Its work is organised around the research agenda of the Institute of Science and Environment, with projects drawn from the environmental, biological, marine and earth sciences. Studies may be practical or theoretical, and can address questions specific to Macao itself and the surrounding Greater Bay region, or problems of wider international reach. Candidates are generally placed within larger multidisciplinary teams that include researchers from other countries, and some spend time at partner universities abroad. Each is expected to advance knowledge through original investigation that appears in peer-reviewed international journals. Classes are held in English during the evening at the NAPE Campus. The listed length is three to five years, and students have full-time status for the three years of study. Professor Adérito Fernandes Marcos serves as programme coordinator.
