Bachelor of Teaching Arabic Language is designed both to train new teachers for Arabic language classrooms and to further develop teachers already working in the subject, with the explicit goal of bringing participants to advanced proficiency across all four language skills and the three core language elements. Four sequential linguistic skills modules carry students from foundational Arabic through to advanced competence, while three dedicated Arabic grammar modules and a syntax and morphology sequence build the formal structural knowledge teaching the language well requires.
Arabic literature and Arabic rhetoric modules add literary and stylistic depth, and curriculum studies, assessment and evaluation, classroom management, and teaching and learning of Arabic cover the pedagogical side directly. Islamic studies, educational and developmental psychology, and a research methodology and ICT module round out the academic content, while three practicum placements across the degree give trainees supervised classroom experience over the full 360-MNQF-credit, three-year programme.
