— it helps other students.
The Master of Teaching Islam responds to a specific concern in Maldivian education: that students leaving school should genuinely love Islam and hold accurate knowledge of the faith, which depends on teachers who can deliver the subject well and help students navigate the pressures of a rapidly changing, technology-driven world. The programme is built for teachers already working in Islamic education who want further advanced training and the additional skills the field now requires.
Curriculum policy and practice, assessment issues and practice, Islam and contemporary challenges, and a teaching practicum form the first semester, while the second covers developmental and educational psychology, research methods, Islam teaching methodology and the interpretation of Quranic verses related to legal rulings. Across one year and 120 MNQF credits, the qualification is designed to strengthen how Islamic studies is taught in Maldivian schools through better-prepared, more capable teachers.
