MA/MS in RASADNIČARSTVO (2020)

This master's programme in nursery production is an applied course at the University of Montenegro. It prepares graduates to run nurseries that supply fruit trees and grapevine planting material. The curriculum is organised over three semesters. The first combines practical training with the biological bases of fruit propagation, fruit rootstocks, special nursery production and tissue culture. The second covers container production of fruit seedlings, the economics and organisation of nursery work, use of biostimulants and the plant health status of planting material, with electives in olive and oil production or ecological fruit growing. The third includes production of woody ornamental planting material, biomass as an energy source, growing substrates, legal rules for nursery production and grafting. Graduates are expected to organise a nursery, manage the production of seedlings, including container seedlings in protected space, use accelerated propagation methods, set up stock plant beds for grapevine rootstocks, apply nursery legislation and calculate the economics of planting material.
