This research master track allows specialisation in any period spanning the Christian and Islamic Middle Ages, from Antiquity to the present, covering either the history of philosophy, the history of science, or their intertwined histories. Past and planned seminar themes include evolution and the mind, theories of space and time, chance, and the philosophy of Karl Marx, with students choosing their own thesis topic. Specialties within the programme include the Scientific Revolution, natural philosophy and logic as studied in the medieval Christian and Islamic worlds, ancient cosmologies, idealism and phenomenology, biopolitics, and thought experiments in science and philosophy. Students also gain the skills to publish academic research and to apply for a PhD position.
