MA/MS in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences: Research in Bio-Pharmaceutical Sciences

This research-oriented specialisation in drug research sits within Leiden's Academic Centre for Drug Research. Different research groups focus on different areas: some on identifying new drug targets and effective lead molecules, particularly in cancer; others on drug-delivery methods and new therapies for immune-related conditions such as atherosclerosis, metabolic disorders and inflammatory skin disease; and others on metabolomics-based health monitoring, systems biology, and precision-medicine methods for predicting how patients respond to treatment and improving the translation of research into clinical use. Techniques taught span advanced imaging, laboratory and animal model systems, organic synthesis, drug formulation, molecular biology, quantitative pharmacology and computational methods, and placement within a specific research group can depend on available capacity.
