Program details

Overview

The programme studies the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie disease, with an emphasis on visualising cells in action through live-cell microscopy and single-cell imaging techniques. Students create their own genetically modified biosensors to investigate the molecular disorders linked to conditions such as cancer, infection, infertility and ageing, working within a research team that applies advanced microscopy methods. Those interested may also develop new image-analysis or microscopy-driver software as part of the work, which is oriented toward further careers in life-sciences research.
