BA/BS in Ancient Studies

This Bachelor's programme investigates the Classical cultures at the roots of the modern world, covering the mythology, history, philosophy, literature, and art of Antiquity, including topics such as Hannibal's conflict with Rome, the epics of Gilgamesh, Cleopatra, Greek tragedies, and the pyramids. Students learn to conduct research into ancient topics and apply what they learn historically to build a critical view of present-day trends, examining contact and conflict between ancient Greek, Roman, Persian, and Egyptian cultures, and between past and present. The programme also covers where political systems historically originated and themes such as identity and migration, tracing their relevance across the centuries from Persian and Athenian times through to Rome.
