BA/BS in Design

Design, listed as Vormgeving, is a four-year bachelor in Maastricht that teaches design through making. Students work with materials from textile to wood, metal and plastics, and find out which direction suits them. The first year is shared with fine art and education students, and after the propaedeutic year students spend three years in the main phase, deepening into techniques such as silversmithing, ceramics, knitting, laser cutting, 3D printing and woodwork. Design theory and art theory run alongside the practice, and students learn to present and justify their work. Graduates receive a Dutch bachelor's degree in Design and can develop their own design identity.
