The four-year regional part-time bachelor in nursing is run as a network and gatherings-based study in Vesterålen. Its workload is about 75 percent per year compared with the full-time programme, around 30 study hours a week, so the course runs over four years instead of three. Teaching is largely digital, with physical gatherings for skills training and simulation. Practice periods, around 50 weeks in total, are done at placement sites with which the university has agreements, when students carry a full study load.
The bachelor is the basis for applying for authorisation as a nurse, and it prepares graduates to deliver nursing across all parts of health services. Admission requires general higher education entrance qualification, or realkompetanse if aged 25 or older.
