Program details

Overview

The two-year master's in mathematics builds on three bachelor programmes in pure and applied mathematics, data and modelling, and finance and insurance. It introduces the axiomatic-deductive method, teaching students to formulate precise problems, choose solution strategies and write logically valid proofs. Students choose between two study directions, Mathematics and Mathematics for applications. An honours certificate worth 20 ECTS credits can be taken alongside the degree. The programme is full-time, 120 ECTS credits, taught on campus in Oslo. Exchange is possible in the second or third semester, and the master's thesis can be written with a stay abroad. Graduates can work in private and public sectors, and the strongest students can pursue a PhD.
