— it helps other students.
This collection-based teacher education is a five-year master's programme that qualifies graduates to teach grades 1 to 7. Practice is completed in four of the five years, and the final year is devoted to the master's thesis. The programme is organised so that students can live anywhere in Norway while studying, combining campus gatherings with online components. Teaching covers reading, writing and arithmetic for beginners, with compulsory subjects in Norwegian, mathematics, and pedagogy and pupil knowledge, plus elective courses. Lessons are built closely around the placements, using lectures, group work and case-based study. Graduates receive the title lektor, and the programme prepares them to lead learning and teaching in primary schools.
