Advanced Diploma in Computing: Software Development (SQA)

This SQA Advanced Diploma focuses on software development, covering how software is designed, built, tested, maintained and improved. Software drives the apps, sites, mobile platforms and business systems that people and organisations use every day, and employers want more people who can create and support them as digital transformation continues. The course pairs theory with practical work. Students cover programming and systems development, then move to databases, web technologies and cloud computing, and finish with securing applications. The subject also connects with artificial intelligence, mobile applications and e-commerce. Learners work across the full cycle of building software, from design through testing and ongoing improvement, which reflects how widely these skills are used in modern business. Completing the diploma gives a route into work and can lead on to further study at university degree level.
