Offered by Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Doha, Qatar, PhD in Biopsychology and Neuroscience is a doctorate in Psychology programme. The programme runs for 3.5 years. It carries 60.0 credits (credit hours). Tuition for international students is QAR 150,000 per total (QAR 150,000 per total for local students).
This doctoral program trains researchers to strengthen neuroscience capacity and mental health care in Qatar, pairing biological inquiry into cognition, behavior and brain aging with applied data and artificial-intelligence methods. Students examine how molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and biophysics intersect with nerve-cell function, building toward a deep understanding of brain disorders and the behaviors they affect.
Over roughly three and a half years, candidates complete a minimum of 60 credits, structured as two required foundational courses, at least four electives, participation in a journal club and departmental seminars, and a dissertation supported by laboratory research. Graduates emerge skilled in experimental design, statistical analysis and rigorous critical thinking, well prepared to study brain function and dysfunction across both healthy and clinical populations.
The program sits within the College of Health and Life Sciences and is taught entirely in English, drawing on an interdisciplinary faculty spanning psychology, biology and computational neuroscience.
