MA/MS in Data Science and Engineering

HBKU's MS in Data Science and Engineering gives students a grounding in advanced analytics, big-data science and data engineering, drawing on expertise across the university's research institutes to cover the full data lifecycle from collection through to scalable knowledge discovery. The 33-credit curriculum combines core courses in advanced data management, applied analytics and statistics with electives in machine learning, cloud computing and other emerging topics. Hands-on projects run throughout, giving students practice with large-scale data storage, processing and mining on real-world problems, and research seminars broaden exposure to current developments in the field. The program wraps up with an industrial project or, alternatively, a research thesis. Delivered over a standard two years, the degree also offers an accelerated one-year format for qualifying students who want to finish more quickly.
