Overview
The Bachelor's Degree in General Nursing combines on-campus coursework with supervised clinical placements across a range of health-care agencies, preparing graduates to provide and manage effective nursing care within their communities and to function competently across varied health-care settings.
Students apply physical, biological, behavioural and social-science principles to patient care, practising within nursing's legal, ethical and regulatory framework while building professionalism, communication skills and the critical thinking needed for holistic, client-centred practice; graduates also become eligible to sit licensing examinations for professional nursing practice at home or abroad. Entry requires five CSEC passes, including English, Mathematics and a Science subject (Chemistry preferred), at Grade A, B or C, or equivalent GCE passes, plus an entrance examination and interview; applicants must be at least 18 by the end of their first year, and holders of a three-year Associate Degree or practising Registered Nurses with five years' experience may also qualify for entry.
