Biosystems Engineering is a three-year professional bachelor's programme offered by the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Maribor. It is worth 180 ECTS credits and awards the Bachelor of Applied Science degree.
The course prepares students to tackle engineering questions that connect ecology and natural resources with the production, processing, storage, use and recycling of biological products. Students become familiar with research methodology, build critical, self-reflective habits of thought, and learn to apply theory independently in practice. Communication skills suited to international settings are also developed, along with the ability to spot bioengineering problems and analyse them.
Graduates can work in farming and food processing, commerce and services, education, advisory services and state bodies, or continue to a second-cycle master's degree.
